Why Vegan?
A ton of great information is online about why going vegan is good for human health, the earth and the animals.
So, why vegan? Here’s just a sampling of some of my favorites that continue to inspire me.

A Life Connected: VEGAN
A 12-minute uplifting, positive video about the power of making Vegan choices.
Cowspiracy
Cowspiracy is now available on Netflix, or click the picture above to pay $4.95 to watch it online. The filmmaker is taking tremendous legal risk by making this film. His original funders backed out when this documentary began to focus on the environmental impact of animal agriculture. Therefore, I ask you to please help him cover his costs by paying the small fee if you don’t have Netflix.
Farm to Fridge – The Truth Behind Meat Production, Narrative by Director James Cromwell
Mercy For Animals presents Farm to Fridge, narrated by Oscar-nominee James Cromwell. This powerful film takes viewers on an eye-opening exploration behind the closed doors of the nation’s largest industrial farms, hatcheries, and slaughter plants. It reveals the often-unseen journey that animals make from Farm to Fridge. No doubt, many have been transformed by watching it.
Meet Your Meat, Narrated by Musician Paul McCartney
Music legend and activist Paul McCartney delivers a powerful narration of this must-see video. Watch now to discover why everyone would be vegetarian if slaughterhouses had glass walls. Learn more at www.meat.org.
Factory Farm Investigations
These investigations seem to come out several times a year, proving it’s not just “a few bad apples” doing cruel things. My grandparents were hog farmers, and my mom has horror stories. Her good friend in junior high had a job of going into their chicken sheds once a day and twisting the heads off the dying birds. She then threw them in the dead pile. Sick animals don’t get a veterinarian call for pain relief or euthanasia. Ultimately, there’s no humane way of killing someone who doesn’t want to die. If you think there is, ask if you’d want that same method of killing used on yourself or your pet.
Get Healthier!
Eating You Alive is a feature length documentary revealing the truth behind why Americans are so sick and what we can do about it. Heart disease often begins in childhood, and many cancers take decades to develop. For this reason, you should eat for your health. You may set a good example for a family member who’s older and has a disease that’s preventable or reversible with a whole food, plant-based diet! As a result, you could save a life!
Be on the Right Side of History
This uplifting video shows how veganism is a social justice movement. Indeed, veganism has elements similar to the women’s suffrage and civil rights movements.
Seaspiracy
Seaspirary is an informative short film about how important the oceans are to us and the devastating ways human appetites for seafood are destroying it.
Spare Lives & Natural Resources Every Day
Enter the amount of time you’ve been vegan and see your impact on animals’ lives, CO2, water, grain and forest land.
You’re In Smart Company!
Transcript: “… The silver goes to a study on IQ and vegetarianism. First let me share a little background. We’ve known for nearly 30 years that vegetarian children test smarter than omnivorous kids. First shown in a 1980 study at Tufts University, the IQ of vegetarian children is found to be about 16 points above average. And their “mental age” was a year ahead of the rest of their classmates. Of all the veg kids, the vegan kids appear the smartest.”

… The pediatricians, psychologists knew the veg kids were bright but the researcher noted that they were puzzled that they were so much superior.
Which came first, though? The chicken or the egg?
Well for the vegan kids, neither perhaps but were they smart because they were vegetarians and therefore getting all that nutrition or did they become vegetarian because they were so smart? Well the mystery has finally been solved, I guess. Those fantastic Brits followed 8,000 kids for thirty years. Measured their IQ at age 10, then came back 20 years later and asked which of them had become vegetarian during that time.
Their findings?
Higher scores for IQ in childhood are associated with an increased likelihood of being a vegetarian as an adult. Smart people evidently eat vegetarian. They even quote Benjamin Franklin saying vegetarian diets result in “greater clearness of head and quicker comprehension”.
Clearer Conscience, Clearer Skin!
If you don’t care about earth and animals, at least care about your health. And if you don’t care about your health, at least care about your skin. 🙂
